on the heels of his massive breakthrough album Making Mirrors, Gotye is readying a remix EP of his single Eyes Wide Open. here, indie-poppers Yeasayer give the Australian singer-songwriter a full reworking, morphing the track into a slow burn of quirky electronic rhythms. the remix allows Gotye’s piercing voice to wash over the opaque blips and beeping loops without letting his signature sound be overwhelmed by the sonic landscape. they later manipulate and chop his vocals to create new melodies.
the Yeasayer remix of Eyes Wide Open is on the Eyes Wide Open remix EP, out August 21st. Eyes Wide Open appears on Making Mirrors.

gotye - easy way out

they’ve pushed aspects of stop-time animation combined with live-action to another level with this clip, and i’m stoked to be associated with it (except maybe the feline immolation bit). the tiny details are many, so watch closely.
